So, you've prayed the prayer, read the verses, subscribed to free trainings on how to get delivered, and yet, you still don't feel...free.
I'll tell it to you straight, reader:
I've been here before.
And I know what it's like to be completely hopeless, discouraged, and down right frustrated. 'Cause it's like, "Lord, don't you see me trying here!?!"
But, I discovered something—on accident, in fact. I discovered something so seemingly simple and yet incredibly profound during a time of prayer. Whether I meant to say this or not, these words came from my lips:
"If I really knew who you were, Lord, I bet you I wouldn't be this anxious."
And, as I let those words linger in the air, those words ended up piercing my heart.
If God really is who He says He is, then I can truly live a life of freedom.
As much as I believe this is true for my life, I also believe this is true for yours too. And after spending the past couple of weeks sitting on God's lap, asking Him to show me who He is, I want to reveal to you a couple of things He has revealed to me:
1) He is love.
And, because He is love, He is also patient and kind. He does not envy or boast, nor is He rude or has pride. He does not demand His own way. He is not irritable and keeps no record of being wronged. He does not rejoice about injustice, but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. He never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
And, now that you know it, it's time you believe it. Have faith that God really is love.
2) He is good.
And, He is so good that all things work together for the good of those who love Him back and are called according to His purpose.
And, if Romans 8:28 is true, it's time you believed it. Have faith that God really is good.
3) He is holy.
He is so holy that there is nothing—no person, no situation—that could ever take away from His perfection.
And, if He really is that holy and His name really is the highest name, it's about time you believed it. Have faith that God really is holy.
And, on and on and on I could go. That's what makes it so exciting. We'll never know all of Him at once. If we could learn about God in all of five minutes, I'd say He's pretty boring. But, the fact that we can spend the rest of our lives stumbling on a new fact about God just means that freedom isn't a one-stop shop. Freedom is a journey we take every day learning more and more about the One who made us.
And,
He really is love.
He really is good.
He really is holy.
And, if I know that—if I have enough faith to believe that—I am sure that I will be able to move any mountain I face.
